BELOIT — Beloit Memorial High School graduate Hayden Scharmer is following in his parents footsteps.

The retired U.S. Army Reservists inspired him to join the Army and go to Fort Knox for cadet training.

He says such training has challenged him both mentally and physically, and it helped him to mature and broaden his horizons.

He received an Ike Skeleton Early Commissioning Scholarship and is attending Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama, where he has to endure difficult tests of various kinds.
