Chancellor’s Award Given to Two SUNY Maritime Graduates


Two graduates of SUNY Maritime were given the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award, the highest honor a student can receive.

Jawad Azam, who studied electrical engineering, achieved dean’s list status, interned with the college power plant and was active in the student government.

La’Quey Smith, who studied marine transportation, was on the crew team and the honor roll throughout most of her academic career.

The awards are given yearly to acknowledge exceptional academic achievements, leadership and involvement on campus.
