Instructor pilots at Columbus AFB work with Virginia Tech AFROTC cadets

COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. (AFNS) — Cadets in the Virginia Tech Air Force ROTC Detachment 875 were afforded the opportunity to work side by side with U.S. Air Force pilots from the 37th and 48th Flying Training Squadrons from Feb. 8-11.

One of the goals was for the pilots to fulfill Air Education and Training Command’s vision of “Recruit Next” via recruiting, training, and informing Air Force ROTC cadets of flying missions, mainly the Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training mission.

The experience provides cadets with a better understanding of what is involved, and it will assist them in making more informed decisions about potential careers in the Air Force.

Engaging with pilots through video conferencing is exciting and motivating, but when pilots are present, the experience is even more profound.
