ASTINE, Maine — Approximately 300 cadets, instructors and staff at Maine Maritime Academy set sail on a 70 day international journey on the training ship State of Maine.

The ship is holding up just fine and will serve the participants well for this 70 day voyage. Two years ago, the State of Maine received upgraded lifeboats, fresh paint, and routine maintenance and repair.

The State of Maine launched in 1990, and it is expected that a new vessel will replace it in eight to ten years.
