PLYMOUTH – Massachusetts Maritime Academy will admit those students in Plymouth schools who have been successful in completing their high school biomed program with a 2.5 GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1050 on verbal and math or a 21 composite ACT score.
An agreement was signed on Wednesday that will guarantee admission and potential merit scholarships and college credits to students who finish the program according to particular standards. Merit scholarships are considered for students with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and qualifying SAT or ACT scores. In addition, those students who earn a 3 or more on AP exams could receive college credit. The agreement will begin with the students in the Class of 2020.
To date, fifty-four students have finished the program, which they take in concert with conventional science courses like biology, physics and chemistry.
