Minority Leadership At The Citadel To Be Celebrated

For the first time in 175 years, The Citadel’s two most senior regimental officers are minorities.

Cadet Sarah Zorn is the cadet corps’ regimental commander and Cadet David Days is the corps’ executive officer. They were the first female and African Americans to lead the corps.

The culture of white male dominance at the Citadel was transformed in 1966 when Charles Foster, the first African American cadet, enrolled and in 1996 when Shannon Faulkner, the first female cadet, matriculated.
