National ROTC VA Tech Cadet Brett Smith Receives a National ROTC Student of the Year Award

Becoming a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force has been a desire of Virginia Tech cadet Brett Smith since he was a young boy. The Air Force runs in his family. His mother is a retired chief master sergeant and his father is a retired senior master sergeant who worked on aircrafts.

Smith was one of two cadets to receive the national Navy Federal Credit Union ROTC All-American Scholarship, which is based on leadership, military excellence, scholarship, and service.

Smith has earned the position of cadet wing commander for the Air Force ROTC, where he will oversee 275 ROTC students.
