North Carolina student accepted into three U. S. military academies

WILMINGTON, N.C. Westley Gaines achieved quite a lot by the time he graduated high school. He was nominated by U.S. Congressman David Rouzer, he earned straight As, and he was the valedictorian at New Hanover High School. During his senior year, he was accepted into the U.S. Military Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Naval Academy.

Gaines made the decision to attend the Naval Academy, a dream since was in elementary school. In 2016, his older brother, Alex, graduated from the Naval Academy, and his middle brother, Taylor, was accepted to West Point in the same year.
