Military assignments were given to seven Harvard ROTC students at a ceremony, where Harvard President Larry Bacow and Gen. Mark A. Milley, the 39th chief of staff of the U.S. Army, spoke.
Bacow said he hopes to see additional students commissioned in future years. Before the students took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, Milley spoke of how they will need to demonstrate competence and humility, and respect the principles on which our nation was founded.
The graduates received their first salute, and family members and friends pinned their insignias to their uniforms.
